Why you should take this course

Data is the new oil and learning how to collect, manipulate, ascertain decisions and solutions to your problems is a skill highly sought after in this new data driven world. Every day, organizations generate a multitude of new data on customers, products, processes, and the industry as a whole. This course will teach you how to use the collected data more effectively. Discover how to turn data into even bigger results and make actionable results from it. You’ll learn to interpret data, gather insights from it and create strategies to increase efficiency and coherence for the customers/users of your business. You will take your data analytics skills to the next level as you learn the theory and practice behind recommendation engines, regressions, network and graphical modelling, anomaly detection, hypothesis testing, machine learning, and big data analytics. This course has been designed by an analytics expert who has been in the forefront of the technology scene. I will be able to share my theoretical knowledge as well as my practical and on-ground experience in developing insights from data be it through complex dispatch algorithms or predictive modelling to determine user behavior. Students need to bring a laptop with Python installed and have access to Google Suite of Products.

What you will learn

Clustering and making sense of unstructured data

To make sure you walk away more confident about handling data, a big part of this course will be dedicated to clustering and will teach you how to make sense of unstructured data, how to organize it and how to read it. You will learn when and how to apply clustering, special clustering, clustering techniques, embeddings components. We will end this first module with a case study so you can practice your knowledge on real life data.

Classical linear & nonlinear regression & extension

Learn about regression and prediction. We will talk about what regression is, why and how we use regression and the different types of regression that we know in data science, like classical linear and nonlinear. The last one to address will be modern regression and how to work with high-dimensional data. We end again this module with a case study and discussion.

Classification and anomaly detection

Classification is a data mining function that assigns items in a collection to target categories or classes. The goal of classification is to accurately predict the target class for each case in the data. Next to the ins and outs about classification, you will learn how to do hypothesis testing and anomaly detection. We end the module with exercises and a case study.

Recommendation systems

Create your own recommendation system, learn all there is to know about recommendations and ranking and explore collaborative filtering. We end with a case study to practice with these systems.

Graphical models

We top it op with some extra statistics and machine learning. In this chapter we go in depth on networks and graphical models. Create machine learning algorithms and work with python and R.

Predictive modelling

The last part of this course will be about predictive modeling for temporal data, prediction engineering and modeling and evaluating predictive models. Be ready for this last module since you need some serious brain power for it!
