What you will learn

Data preparation and exploratory data analysis

The course starts with a basic overview of public data sources available, downloading the data and converting it in suitable format. Thereafter data is converted to the form suited for analysis and connecting it to tableau. We perform some exploratory data analysis to get sense of data, forensic audit of data and perform some initial transformations. Besides some design principles of dashboard will be introduced on side. By the end of this module participants will be able to see a plan of what needs to be accomplished.

Sets and filters

This module will start with designing skeletal of the dashboard. Thereafter we start building components for the dashboard sheet by sheet. We create dynamic groups using sets. We create filters on data source for dynamically choosing field values on the dashboard. You will learn innovative use of composite filters and dynamic groups.

Parameters, animation charts and dashboard implementation

This module is most revealing module whereby the use of parameters adds a whole new functionality in the dashboard. It demonstrates how much control on dashboard can be given to end user for self-service BI. Besides an animation chart will also be included in dashboard. This module will help the participant see how various components together orchestrate a dynamic dashboard.

Dashboard formatting and publishing

In the last module, several principles of visual design, design hierarchy and dashboard configuration for various devices will be discussed. Participants will realise that dashboard design is not a process but an art work to ensure a seamless human computer interface. The dashboard will be published for audience through web, mobile and tablets. Essentials of the multi-device publishing will be discussed. By the end of this module participants would have gone through a complete cycle of dashboard design from concept to implementation.
